LEGEND SOCCER COMPANY
Do you like soccer (or, as the rest of the world calls it, football)? Dirk does in a big way, and it has become a family affair.

Dirk's son Roland and 2 friends have started Legend Soccer Company,  developing innovative, sustainable soccer gear (and only soccer gear). Learn about Legend Soccer Company at the link above. Dirk not only endorses Legend Soccer, he's involved with it - "and not only because Roland is my son."

Dirk will be winging his way to the Dutch countryside soon - mere hours from now! OK, a rather large number of hours from now...

Over on the Facebook page, Marleen Schoormans-van Eijkeren shared this. The text is Dutch, of course, but the video is done in English:

Ohhhh I just watched that!! Political statements. When Dirk talks politics, I just want to kiss him. Well, I always want to kiss him, but I digress. He's so honest and unafraid of the PC police ... and, you know, RIGHT.

I'm not gonna get myself in trouble now.. I'm not Dirk, so I can't get away with it, and I still want to get along with y'all.

What happened to you in Massachusetts? Not getting in to politics? That's just not like you.

The reaction to Dirk. Yeah, I still have the texts from your q and a answers. I can't wait 'til you see him face-to-face. I will need to bottle some of that energy.

Herring (raw fish). A Dutch delicacy.
I must say I'm not a fan of herring myself. And I wonder whether Dirk really liked it

He had had herring in the Netherlands before. When they visited back in '84 I think with Dwight and Mr. T, they were also offered some herring.

* face-to-Face!

It would be anticlimactic. Trust me, I'm all talk. I was ready to make brilliant conversation at the Phoenix convention, but instead I blushed & giggled like a schoolgirl (then went home and took a cold shower... haha)

I'm thinking the next encounter will go pretty much the same way. It might still entertain you, though

That sounds like a challenge. How to get you and him face-to-face with an intelligent conversation....and maybe a hug? I'll see what I can do.

Ah. Yes. I see. An acquired taste, no doubt...

Of course, I'm a huge fan of lox, and of nigiri sushi...

I'm seriously thinking of trying to schedule my internship so I can make it out there. As long as I don't end up with two months of nothing like I did last summer.

So, want to hear my plan of attack? Come up with the randomest questions you can think of, and if you find yourself at a loss for words, ask one. Gives you time to recover and makes you look confident as an added bonus. I bluff my way through a lot of conversations this way when I'm nervous and it usually works pretty well. But it helps if you're at least a little prepared - the time I tried to fill an awkward pause by telling a History major I didn't feel like much happened during the Middle Ages was not a moment of brilliance, to say the least.
