Changed my signature again It's from a story I'm working on - and between lack of time and discontent with the current stage, I started re-reading earlier parts, trying to get a handle on it again. Then I read the part where this exchange comes in, and it not only reminded me of where the story should be going, but where I should be going.

Another reminder that I'm trying to forge a new life, a new way of thinking, a new way of being. That the past is gone and yet I need to remember...

My desk with pc sits in the dining room, facing the east windows. I can look outside and see virtually nothing of the neighbors through the shrubs and flowers. Right now, I'm watching "our" cats - a feral mama and her kitten. She's kind of a ginger/brown mottled color, and tiny - I thought she was a kitten herself the first time I saw her Her kitten is black with white chest and paws. They come out each morning and settle in the little round garden under the tree; Mama washes and lazes...

Had a conversation with a friend recently and - either because I'm extremely egocentric or because I'm deeply introspective - I started thinking about it in terms of - TA-DA - me. Which was basically the subject of the conversation - the idea of being accepted for ourselves, not just the roles we play in other people's lives.

One has to wonder, sometimes, how much our roles affect the "Me". How often do the roles become Me? And how often does Me become the role? And how...

It's been one of those weekends, when suddenly you find yourself forced to re-evaluate things you thought were more or less 'settled'. Or deluded yourself into thinking they were settled. Not only for me, but also for my son.

Respecting his privacy, I'll just say that he's been calling me for advice. I've tried not to tell him what he should do - that only backfires on everyone - but I have told him what *I* would do (and, unfortunately, have done in the past). He knows...
