Krishna- who?

Posted 06-01-2017 at 04:37 PM by Ludlum'sDaughter14

Thought for the day:
"The road to discontentment is paved with misplaced expectations."

(Ooh, that has to be the best thought I've had yet today! I know those other two also sounded just as brilliant at the time, but this one really shows depth and... and depth... I have to go post this on Facebook, and Twitter, and if I add it on top of a really sweet picture, I could even post it on Instagram. All my followers won't mind hearing from me three times in a day - after...

The Vulcan Thought They Left Out of Star Trek

Posted 05-28-2017 at 05:22 AM by Ludlum'sDaughter14

Saying a person can be devoted to multiple religions at the same time is highly illogical. That's like saying you can be both a staunch Republican and a staunch Democrat at the same time. You can be a moderate and still hold to pieces of both ideologies, but if you hold strongly to the beliefs of one party, you are by definition diametrically opposed to the beliefs of the other. You can't simultaneously vote for two political candidates in opposite parties running for the same office.

Based on a True Story

Tonight I got out my notebook and started to write a poem about how I didn't know how to write this poem, but then I ended up writing the original poem, so... Yeah. This poem is about an experience I had on Saturday when I was out walking and took a detour through a small, mostly empty parking garage (detour may not be the right word, since it was more like deliberate wandering, complete with random photos of the top level for no reason besides personal amusement, but I digress). At first I didn't...

Sky's the Limit

Here's a sort-of-poem I wrote a few days ago, after watching Blue Tornado and also thinking about how people try to fit everything into neat little boxes because they can't deal with physical complexities beyond number and a spiritual realm beyond understanding. I'm going to post it before I put my notebook away and forget.

They say the sky's the limit.

They're wrong.

How can you hope to count the stars
when each human being...

How much do our beliefs affect our reality?

Posted 05-09-2017 at 04:16 PM by Ludlum'sDaughter14

Sometimes real life has a way of overturning philosophical postulates that exist quite comfortably in the realm of the theoretical. Sometime last year, I came up with this argument that I would reason out in imaginary conversations in my head: Realistically, whether your beliefs align with reality will have an affect on your life and those around you, but in a strictly objective sense, it doesn't matter as much whether what you believe is correct or not, because even if your beliefs are way off...
