Wow way to go Nacky. I had no idea that cigarettes could do that!!! Another great thing for us to tell our kids so that they don't pick up this horrible addiction.

There are also some studies that I know about that correllate the prevalence of smoking in people wtih schizophrenia ( which is very high) and the fact that smoking actually helps them self medicate which seems to be part of the reason so many people with schizophrenia smoke. They also think smoking may lead people who are genetically predisposed to schizophrenia into the disease more quickly.

In any case it is well known in the world of psychology and psychiatry that a very high percentage of schizophrenia patients smoke and very heavily as well. If they do find that smoking does act as a partial trigger for schizophrenia ( which they are not sure of at the present time) along with genetics, yet another good reason not to smoke cigarettes.

My Father was a very heavy smoker.
He died from lung cancer. I never started smoking for that reason.
I have friends who have been smoking for years and are trying to quit to improve their health.
