It's sad in a world where many don't have enough to eat and others waste food. :(

In this article, at the bottom, it lists the typical foods wasted in the UK. Although potato is listed at the top, if all the ready-meals were added together, they would be top of the list. :o

I have to say I'm no angel when it comes to food waste. But by cooking more for myself, I do believe I'm wasting far less than I used to, because I know exactly what's in my fridge. ;)

I've been known to through mouldy apples away before because I bought BOGOF and hadn't used them in time. :o  However, there are some great receipes in the links below, and I'm also gonna make more of an effort to freeze excess fruit, ready to make a lovely pie or crumble! ;) :))

I started doing a weekly meal plan a few months ago, primarily to help me stick to my diet and to save time during the week, by doing prep ahead of time on the weekend. But another effect of it is no waste now, since I make my shopping list from my plan and buy exactly what I need and no more. I really wish I'd started doing it years ago!
