Before you write a blog, it'd be a good idea to create a Category for it first. This way, you can keep your blogs more organized.

Say you want to blog about cars, and you want to blog about television.

Two totally different subjects. If I were to visit your blog to read all about your car posts, I'd have to wade through the other postings as well.... unless they were categorized :)

Now... I am NOT saying to create a new category for EACH blog entry. Just for when the subject matter is totally different.

You can accomplish this by going to your Blog Control Panel on the Blog page.

How does one do this catagory thing? The drop-down menu just says one thing. All the time. Like a potato. Oh and the picture albums are very nice...now let's do a Bitmap allowance, and maybe allow to move pics around in an existing album? I's got many pics to share! Unlike a potato, but more like lots of potatoes!

Look under options in your blog. Click on blog control panel. There is a little wheel like icon beside it. Click on the blank folder and make the changes after you do that it should look like this.

My reply is in the first post:

As for this...
Oh and the picture albums are very nice...now let's do a Bitmap allowance, and maybe allow to move pics around in an existing album? I's got many pics to share! Unlike a potato, but more like lots of potatoes!By bitmap I am assuming you mean .bmp format? If that's the case, no way! :))

.bmp, aka bitmap, are HUGE files. Convert them to .jpg format.

Additionally, .bmp format will NOT produce thumbnail images when proccessed through the websites image uploader.

Regarding placing images in whatever category. I assume you know you can create Album categories already? So go to EDIT the image, and change the category assignment.

So go to EDIT the image, and change the category assignment....ummmm Ignore that. Apparently you can't do that.

Dear Admins/Mods
Is it possible to allow linking to someone's blogs from their profile page?
At the moment, in the All Blogs section, we can find previous blogs by a person as long as they have blogged recently and are on the 'recent' list, but it's not so easy to find previous blogs from a person if they haven't blogged recently? (Hope I'm making sense!).
Thanks in advance if you can help! ;)

I saw the blogs are also mentioned and can be entered on the respective profile pages now. :o That´s great! Thanks Warrior, you´re a wizard!;)

Sorry Asmay, but that's not working for me.
If Shastastar doesn't mind, I'll use her as an example (because Asmay hasn't got any blogs yet! :p)

If you see this link
http://www.dirkbenedictcentral.com/forums/blog.php?u=321

you will see that all of SS's blogs are listed, Also if one goes into one of these blogs,
http://www.dirkbenedictcentral.com/forums/blog.php?b=76
there is a link at the bottom which says 'Recent blog entries by ... '

BUT if you go to SS's public profile,
http://www.dirkbenedictcentral.com/forums/blog.php?b=76
at the top right hand side it has 'mini statistics' which says number of blogs a person has written. If one then tries to link to these blogs from the 'blog' text, one can't. That's the point!

I was hoping the profiles could be amended so there could be a link to all the blogs someone has written FROM their public profile, because as I have shown above, those links are available already in the blog section. In the blog section, the links are not so convenient if someone hasn't blogged recently, then one has to go through pages and pages of blogs back to find that person's blog. That's why I thought it would be easier if the links could work from their profile pages?

Warrior/Darrell, Dawg or Tracy, if you can help that would be great! ;)

Sorry, I thought it worked, but you're right. Hope there'll be an easy solution.

And maybe, someday, I'll start blogging too ......;)

Also if there is a way that we can see page views on our blogs that I am unaware of will someone please help me figure that out. If not is there a way that we could make that available on our blog home page or on the blog control panel? Either way I would appreciate it sooo much

THANKS

Something else you need to watch for is when you respond to a blog or a profile message, watch which button you're pushing!

There is a "reply" button, and there is a "report" button, and they are in fairly close proximity.

You want to use the "reply" button. That will put your comments where they're supposed to be.

The "report" button sends an email to all the Admins. It's designed to be used when a post violates rules and an Admin needs to be notified.

Let us know if there are any questions about it.

Thanks!

I am
Dawg

Although my question is more general, not merely related to the blog section, I think this is the best place to ask it.

Everytime I want to add a reply longer than two sentences to either one of the posts or the blogs I get kicked out of the board. A message then tells me I cannot post because I'm not logged in.

I found the best thing to do next is to close IE, open it again, try to log in on the board and then paste in my reply (yes I'm typing all posts in Word first nowadays).

Are more people having the same problem?
Is it a hick-up at my side or is it an IE related thing?
Is there something I can do on my end but have omitted so far?
Would love to get some tips on this.

I think it depends on how fast you type? If it takes me more than 7 mins or so to write something, I get logged out, but an ID and password come up in the middle of the screen, I re-enter using that and wait a moment (well sometimes a minute!), and more often than not my post is still there ready to be sent, or has been sent. But for long stuff or blogs, I usually write it in notepad or word and copy&paste. ;)

asmay

With me it's not the same: I get kicked out/logged out when my post contains more than 2 or 3 lines. . I tried waiting but to no avail. So it'll be copying and pasting for now, I guess.

At least good to know I'm not the only one having these problems ...
