I love Christmas music, the hymns, 70s glam rock, Bing and Dean Martin.

I mentioned in a previous post that Slade's Merry Christmas to me almost our national song.
Bing and david Bowie doing 'drummer boy'
Silent night is my absolute favourite carol.

Would dbuk (su) do the honours and put on Slade and oh of course the wombles 'wombling merry christmas' and Wizzards i wish it could be christmas everyday which the 70s are the best decade for christmas rock and pop music in the uk.

Future requests Jona lewie and 'stop the cavalry' and Shaky's, 'merry christmas everyone'
Thank you.

And I would love to hear any popular songs that you love please, hymns ,traditional, pop etc.
thanks for reading xx

I do love white Christmas, is possibly song for christmasthe song for this period.
Can you post the Kate Bush one here too? ( should be on the same thread db did it for me) i know its werid but kate is one of our most 'english' musicians and I would love that as a contrast.

Also do you have the 'race 'in the charts for the christmas chart number one song?
I will try and post our christmas number ones of previous years and you will be surprised.

Swedish Christmas songs are always very nice to listen to...I especially like Agnetha's version of Jingle Bells, which is called Bjällerklang. There's so much Christmas in the text as it describes the snow on the fir trees and tracks made by the sleds and riding out in the open white meadows of fresh-fallen snows. :)

I always listen to the soundtrack from A Charlie Brown Christmas when we trim the tree! :) And slightly less traditional but still one of my faves, is a Christmas album by Harry Connick Jr. 8)

I love BoneyM! Their versions of Malaika and Rivers of Babylon are great! I have those on CD of various artists and when I made my own Christmas CD a few years back that included Silent Night by Stevie Nicks among other gems, I included BoneyM's version of Auld Lang Syne to close off the CD with. It's a good CD to listen to, no matter what season.

Thanks for the vids, I'll try to get the time to view them. Cheers all!

Hallo liebe Petra!!!
Vielen Dank! Thank you!!!

Here are my favourite German Christmas songs......
Stille Nacht (I know that all by heart!!!... and I always try at Christmas tim to teach it to my parents and my boyfriend... but they can't speak German.... a bit funny!!)
http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=oUb8ySdERKs

And Kling Glöckchen
But I haven't found a good link for it.... It's a pity, cause I find it cheerful and very nice...
Can you find a link of it Petra?
I've found only an intrumental one, but with voices is muuuch better!

My brother and sister-in-law brought a DVD of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to watch this evening ( my family gets together every Christmas Eve ) which included this song.......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGrhzCgy_bg

I hadn't heard of them until last year when my 19 year old niece got the opportunity to see them in concert in Pittsburgh PA, December 2006. This December she went to see two of their concerts ( one in November and one in December ). She loves them ! She said the show is awesome !!! Soo, next year, many more family members are planning to go to at least one show if not 2..or maybe 3 !!!
