LEGEND SOCCER COMPANY
Do you like soccer (or, as the rest of the world calls it, football)? Dirk does in a big way, and it has become a family affair.

Dirk's son Roland and 2 friends have started Legend Soccer Company,  developing innovative, sustainable soccer gear (and only soccer gear). Learn about Legend Soccer Company at the link above. Dirk not only endorses Legend Soccer, he's involved with it - "and not only because Roland is my son."

Celebrities ARE people too

I have had this on my mind for quite a while. For me Celebrities ARE people too. It amazes me that when someone becomes a public figure some people make the assumption that their privacy is not their's anymore. I say "NOT SO!" Those people have a right to separate their public persona and their private lives. They're people just like you and me. Don't we all have our public persona that we project to people that we don't know really well and our private side? I know I do.
I have had the pleasure of meeting David Suzuki. I found him down-to-earth and a really caring person. No big ego in sight.
Dirk Benedict is one of those people too. I've haven't had the pleasure of meeting him yet. I've heard from fans and others that have met him and also how Tracy speaks about him how really nice he really is and huggable. I think that he's a genuine, down-to-earth, caring person. What I admire about him the most is that he thinks of himself as a Father first. I also think that he has a lot of courage. It really impressed me when he joined CBB and at the encouragement of his sons. He's also done those cruises too. Beaten cancer. And all those public appearances too. He speaks his mind without fear of reprisal. I really admire that in a person. Yes, Dirk is a celebrity and he IS a people too and a terrific one at that. 'Nuff said.

Absolutely true! I often wonder why some people start to idolize someone who just happens to be famous. Then they start to have such high expectations of that person that he or she is bound to 'disappoint' since they are no superbeings.

However, (like Dirk) being in the eye of the public all of the time and still managing to be rather nice about it .... I think that is quite super (doubt if I could do that myself).
