Folks,
In reply to some of you who have contacted us regarding today's spam attacks, thanks for the heads up and the moderators are on the case.
Until further notice, new registrants are under "moderate" status until this wave of nasties passes.
Please bear with us.

Well crap. I knew something was up when I responded to one of the posts, and they never answered (I had actually thought it was a valid post because I don't think I've ever seen spam in here like that before) and I never respond to machine-generated spam and I guess I was tricked into replying to it because I didn't think anything much of it until the guy/bot started repeating its posts over and over with different subject titles.
It was kinda odd though that one of the profiles said it was from Iraq and another one was from Jamaica and wrote in Thai...
Spambots have become quite sophisticated in recent years - and there's always the spammer who is a living, breathing creature (not quite human, I'd wager).
Thanks to everyone who contacted us about the posts (you, too, Nacky ;) ). We should have a handle on them now.

I can't stand Spam
Two thumbs up to the members who were alert about the Spam. ;)
I'm glad this was taken care of very quickly. :)
And two thumbs up to our admins/moderators too. :D

Well you're welcome - of course I'm gonna alert youse when I see that kind of felgercarb! One of them had to have been a bot but another had the implications of a real person just trying to put up some crappy blog link. I hope they didn't succeed in making everyone who uses Blogger look like a spammer, because the blog host is a legit one but as easily a target, I suppose. The moderation should take care of it and hopefully they'll move on.

Just so everyone knows, it's not just DBC under attack. Other forum sites have the same problem.
Just an update - we're trying something over the next couple of days to limit the number of these spam registrations. If anyone has any kind of difficulty logging in, please let us know.
