Thanks for the post of the interview! Certainly entertaining, as Dirk always is. I hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend.
The first week of school is under our belt and went pretty well! I hope it did for everyone else, as well.

I saw a news blip and I don't know if it has shown up here yet, but Roland's tryout is with Gillingham in Kent, he actually saw some play time on their reserve match against southhampton a few days ago.

Rolands name is mentioned at the bottom

Good spot Shastastar!
Thx for sharing. :D

Kent - not too scary then - no wippets & flatcaps for Dirk & Roland to contend with? :p :)) Very 'Home counties'!

'Trialist' - sounds very tough! Good luck Roland! :)

Hi Everyone, I was just checking the update on the Gillingham site and sadly it said that they would be dropping their interest in Roland Benedict.
I feel sad for him....I hope they are all ok and not too dissapointed.
He did get the chance to persue a dream and that takes a lot of courage!
Hopefully, another team will scout him out!
Good Luck Roland....I wish you well in your future.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for Roland at Gillingham, Their loss i'm sure. I would like to wish Roland good luck in his dream. There are lots of other clubs out there, I'm sure he'll get another chance. Don't give up a the first hurdle go out and prove Gillingham wrong.

On another note my little one is gutted he had already asked me for a Gillingham shirt for his up and coming birthday with Benedict on. Never mind !

Take Care All.

Now my earlier msg seems too jovial! :(

If you hear the stories of the top players, they always have had some kind of rejection from somewhere. Be strong Roland!

Thanks for that link to the pictures those were awesome!!!!

As for Roland, I echo what the others have said, it takes a lot of courage to pursue a dream so keep at it :)

I'm sure everyone on this board is proud of you. This is just the first step.

So everyone send lots of great positive :D thoughts for Roland!!!!!

Dear friend, today I did a translation of the posts and fully agree with what you wrote. When I saw the photos I had the same impression ...
I'm sure Roland will overcome all this for several reasons: for having a great father, the positive messages that we all write and wish him e. ..
"The desire to measure the obstacles and will win."

Hi All,

Hi Jules just noticed your location and had an idea, i think CAMBRIDGE UTD would be a good place for Roland to start and work up from. I reckon he'd get a run there and the only way in the UK to get spotted is to be playing regularly. Once you are playing and for a striker banging in the goals you'll get noticed no worries by higher leagues. Don't think Gillingham gave Roland a fair go really what can you tell in one 15min sub appearence.

My 8yr old is in the Youth Development team for Cambridge and I know people who know people at CAMBRIDGE UNITED if you know what I mean.

Hi Jo !!!!

You're from Cambs as well.......:o:eek: we can highly recommend our county!!! We are close to London, with great transport links......hint, hint;):D:confused: I agree......Cambridge United would be a great or slightly north of the county, Peterborough United (Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren is the manager there).......;) I'm sure there's a team out there for Roland.......;) & one that's prepared to let him establish himself and give him a fair go;)

You must be a very proud mum..........your son must be very talented to be in the Cambridge Youth Development Team!!! Keep encouraging him, I'm sure he will be very successful;)

Take care........;)

Hi Jules, I'm from Beds actually, just next door , but love Cambridgeshire to,

Yes Thank you for your kind words. I am a very proud MUM :) Our house is a bit football crazy! Just me and my boy. He plays for Arlesey in Beds under 9's and trains also with Cambridge Youth, and then he supports Liverpool. So we are normally all over the place, always something footie wise going on, and he has a step sister who's a Season Ticket holder with Cambridge to.

And any time left my boy just adores Dirk and Dwight.

Take Care
Kind Regards Jo

Hi Jules,

Yep always, always a busy mum, where do the days and weeks go. But hey we wouldn't have it any other way right. Best job in the world "being a mum" Wow 3 daughters cool ! bet they are growing up fast. I kept telling my boy every year he's not allowed anymore Birthdays he's got to stay the age he is, been trying that since he was 3 tho, doesn't work.

To be honest tho thats ok he gets better every year and we have so much fun and love to go off and have adventures and live life.

Take Care, nice to talk to you.
