Much to my chagrin, I have to admit that one of my FAVORITE horror movies growing up was one starring Dirk Benedict. I absolutely loved loved loved Sssssssssssss. My brother and I watched it without fail every time it came on. I watched it recently and I was rolling around on the floor laughing. Dirk is still wonderful in it but the movie is SO 70s! OH MAN! Anyway I found this awesome trailer on YouTube and had to share my favorite scare from my childhood.

This is when I first became a Dirk Benedict fan. I'm a LONG LONG TIME DIRK BENEDICT FAN-ADICT. It was filmed back 1973! WOW! I knew what I liked back then and it hasn't changed a bit.

I hope somebody else remembers this movie and loved it as much as I did.

I have a sneaking suspicion that most if not all of us here have seen "SSSSSSSS". ;)
Great fun.:)

I was able to get Ssssss on DVD off of ebay :D So I've seen it now :D
I don't remember it back in 1973 - oh that's because that's the year I was born :p:oops:

I remember seeing it on TV back in the 70s - and that's the one and only time I've been able to watch it. I wasn't so much put off by the snake thing - it was more my aversion to someone being "done to" without any way of fighting back. I hate "helpless" scenarios. It's the one film I haven't even tried to get from eBay (or anywhere else!)

I've got that on DVD and am watching later on this evening. It's one of my favourite horror movies.
Well I already agreed with you once on this, but I will agree whith you again:

OH MAN do you hit the nail on the head. This movie wouldn't by 1/10th as horrifying if Dirk's character was a sleeze bucket who deserved to be turned into a snake.
But he doesn't. The whole film he's just this nice guy and what happens to him is all the more horrific for it because you so so so do not want it to happen.
Kinda related:
Did any of you see the GI Joe movie?
Cobra Commander devolved into a Cobra and this terrified me out of my 7 year old mind *L*
I was afraid to go to sleep because I thought I'd wake up and find I'd been turned into somethign horrible.
Mmm Witches played bad off that fear too, turning children into mice.
Heh, you know if I ever watch SSSSSSS and then get badly sunburned i know the rational part of my brain will be having to reassure the fear centers of my brain that it is normal for skin to peel and I'm not turning into to anything dreadful *LOL*
I love the fear section of my brain. It never actually fears anything rational. Is it afraid rapists might get me late at night? Oh n. It's on high alert for brain suckers from the planet Vecro *head desk*

I really laughed when I read that. I'm now starting to think along those lines too. Thanks for putting that image in my head. :p :))
