Yes, thank goodness you agree! Not sure what went wrong with this - may be it's just the trailer(s) that suck (the original one on their web-site was even worse! :o)
It's easy to scoff at someone else's hard work, especially if one has never tried to do that thing oneself! So I'm pleased to read that another of Cheney's movies - Roswell 1847 - has been winning awards.
So it'll be released on DVD then this April? Hmmm - I'll have to think about that one!

It does look pretty crappy (the trailer) - but then, maybe it's just because it's on youtube... Oh, well - one could get the DVD, copy off the Dirk parts, and then sell it off on eBay >:)

Ostarella, I like your Avatar, looks like John Striker, very good!!!!Thanks - wanted something new, so took a John Striker photo (I love the tux) and put it on a picture I'd taken of "my" mountains - thought it was kinda fitting ;)
Oh my Gosh... the trailer is... :o ehm.. it's... :(
But Dirk is always cool!! :D
ostarella, I agree with Petra, your avatar is really great.. Our charming Dirk and those romantic and wonderful mountains behind him. I adore mountains.. I'm sure it's incredible where you live!

Oh, I only wish I lived in the mountains - I only call them "mine" because I want them so bad. I live in the upper midwest - small hills, and lots and lots of cornfields and soybeans - which means in the winter you can look for miles and see nothing but totally flat snowfields.

I hate to say it but this looks like a bunch of amateurs that hired some costumes and a plane for the day. The Dirk clips only show us his 'screen test' from that other video. Is it possible they got him there just for that one scene and are using his name on the movie, well I hope they have his permission. I'm sure if he stuck around for long enough he'd have seen what sort of an outfit it was and left. Whatever the circumstances he was doing *them* a favour.

That earlier clip was better than the trailer, even with the ducks :p But I agree - he did them a big favor! May be the only thing that saves the film (that, and selling off all the props on eBay )

If memory serves, Dirk spent one day on his scenes for this.
Flashbacks.
If anybody makes it through the whole film, I'd be interested to hear if it was worth sitting through. Judging by the trailer, I don't think it'll be me:neutral:

Well, if we go about 50 miles to the east, we run into "Bluff Country" - along the Mississippi. But otherwise... When I came back from my Vancouver trip, I was depressed for weeks. Nothing but corn for miles and miles and miles...
Maybe I'll trade my forklift for a huge grader - make my own. If it works, I'll run up your way :))

You guys are crazy! :))
I've lived in cities, towns, villages, and even a 'hamlet' or two. I've lived in flatlands (yes, I am an 'Essex' girl:oops:), by the sea, by a national park (with great hills), and currently cross the Ridgeway (southern england ancient trackway at the top of the Berkshire downs) twice a day to go to work. I loved them all, and would not have missed any of those experiences.
You guys have to 'embrace' where you're living right now! Be happy with it!
Flatlands are great - seeing for miles - (when I occasionally felt couped up in the city sometimes I used to try to remember those flatlands of my childhood) ... wonderful. Ever see 'The Big Country' with Gregory Peck. He's a retired sea captain and someone asks him if he's ever seen anything so big in his life before (referring to the local countryside). 'A couple of oceans,' he says.
Yup, I find all of nature amazing. :D
EDIT - PS how do we get so off-topic!
Thanks for confirming how long Dirk spent on the film.
Yeah, I think the production team were 'learning' with that film, so maybe it might have a 'student film' feel about it. I'm glad their later works have 'improved' and getting noticed, postively.

Yeah, I think I'm just suffering from major cabin fever. :( Spring is great here, but...I'm spoiled now. Can't imagine how my ancestors existed here after coming from the mountains of Norway! :o
Yeah, we got off-topic - but it's probably a good topic to get a little side-tracked from :p
On-topic - I'll wait until I see the DVD on eBay.

Is this for real or maybe an April fools day joke????
I am flabbergasted by Tracy's info that Dirk actually performed for this "movie".
I mean even the explosions are fake and I only see Dirk like once and it looks like a clip from an interview. I mean his whole posture is like Dirk "private" (not in a role). So I am totally convinced EITHER this is a april first joke OR this is a very bad movie... looks like a "funny home video". I think I'll grab my camera and make a movie as well.
Hope Dirk had fun and got enough payed for his part.

Oh ostarella.. I wish I could visit your country...
I find it so fascinating....
ostarella

That's actually one of my dreams - to visit my own country! ;) I've made a start to see each state, but I've got a long way to go. And each state is like a whole new world, so I dawdle as much as I can
Except Nebraska and eastern Washington - I drive like a bat out of hell through those :D
Eh eh!! I know your "country" is very wide and it would take a life to explore each single aspect of it.. That's one of the peculiar and special sides of your nation I suppose..
Anyway, I meant I wish I could visit your state in particular...
Maybe it's not the most famous part of America in Italy, but I find it absolutely one of the most fascinating..:)
just a question.... why does this trailer lead us so off-topic??? :D

Maybe it's not the most famous part of America in Italy, but I find it absolutely one of the most fascinating..Well, if you ever get over this way, I'll show you every cornfield! ;) Really, we do have some wonderful little spots scattered amongst the corn - in the spring and fall it's beautiful; summer is, too, except for the humidity (can get soaking wet standing still). But don't come in winter! :p

I took a month to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway in my 20s - that was great. Like many I suppose, I've dreamt of driving coast to coast too. ... But since 9/11, I don't think my face would fit! :( I love driving over Hardknot Pass in the English Lake District, especially in a 'normal' car rather than an SVU! :)) Euan & Charlie's bike trips have also reignited my love of roadtrips too!
This is a great show (which of course I missed - hopefully More4 will repeat it soon!)

I think I'm just a gypsy at heart. My family would take vacations on rare occasions, but the one trip I remember most (and was the most fun) was a camping trip we took to the Dakotas. We had an old beat-up station wagon, and my dad and brother stretched out in the back to sleep, and my mom (all 5 feet of her ;)) and I slept in the front seat. Cooking out over an open fire, and then toss everything in the car and take off for the next spot. Loved it!
That's why when I made my convention trips, I didn't stay in hotels until I got to the convention. Otherwise, I just pulled over to a rest area or ranger station and slept in the car. And like that show, I ate at small "greasy spoons", and chatted up the gas station attendants, and just had a hell of a time! There's something so wonderfully free about not caring how far you got each day, or dealing with reservations, or catching all the tourist traps. I had more fun parking the car by the side of the road and traipsing along deer paths than any commercial site-seeing.
But then, I'm probably weird...:p
ostarella, I find it a great way to travel!!
For many reasons (you've probably read now and then about my situation) I must plan everything in my life.. I must measure each single step..
But I'd really like to do as you described.. that's a feeling of freedom and independence. :)

Hi Ostarella Did you come to Vancouver for the Gatecon? I probably saw you if you did. If you ever come back look me up I will show you the mountains. I remember when I went to Montana how flat some of it was. Is Minnesota flatter?
ostarella

Did you come to Vancouver for the Gatecon? Yeah, I was up there for the one in 2005.
Is Minnesota flatter? As a pancake! :( Western Minnesota is plains - similar to eastern Washington state. SE Minnesota, where I live, does have some hills, because we're closer to the Mississippi, but...if I go to the west end of town, I can see the water tower of the town six miles away. If I go to the east end of town, I can only see as far as the petroleum station a half-mile out. But the biggest hill in the area (well known locally as The Preston Hill) would make a good bunny slope. :p The only thing that really breaks things up are the small woods scattered around the farmsteads for windbreaks.

So because I have to have the entire DB filmography in my library, I purchased this DVD. The movie was terrible! I did sit through the whole thing but laughed myself silly with my 12 year old neice at the acting, sound affects, and visual affects.
Dirk did okay, however, I thought it was a little unbelievable that he was playing a world war II war veteran and reminiscing about events that happened before he was even born. He was not convincing as an 80 year old war hero, due to his good looks of course. My suspension of belief would have been better served if he was playing a Vietnam veteran.
Anybody else get up the nerve to sit through this?

Dirk played an 80 year old?
I think I just might watch this out of curiosity.
No offense to Dirk intended. ;)
I think he's terrific and I think he still would look fantastic at 80. :D

That made me curious too!:o Dirk as an 80 year old .... I cannot get an image of that! :)) Have to see for myself. :p Quite an accomplishment, though. :D Sorry the movie isn't any good ...
