Hi friends!! :D
As you all know, l live in Italy and it was impossible for me to watch CBB 5. I wasn't informed about this TV program, which seems to be different from the Italian version "Grande Fratello" where famous people aren't allowed.

When I read he was taking part, I watched some videos on youtube, but I found only a fragmentary documentation..
If you feel like telling me, I'd like to know something more about it all.
What kind of reality show is it in England (the Italian version is very criticized for the low level...)?
What kind of way of being had Dirk? How was his way of behaving during the show: shy or extroverted, critical or amusing, quiet or sociable........?
What kind of persons did he like more? Has he found friends among them?

Thank you so much!!

Hi Sara.
I guess like many new old fans of Dirk who came to this site via Celebrity Big Brother, you ask some very difficult questions (well I mean the answers are going to be difficult), but I will try to give my opinion.

When I read he was taking part, I watched some videos on youtube, but I found only a fragmentary documentation...
Much of the montages from youtube were deleted (possibly a copyright issue! ) which is very disappointing as they were very good. I know one or two people who have DVDs of it but I don't know if they made them themselves from the 1 hour 'highlights' edits that the show's producers made, or from the 24 hour live feeds or a combination. I don't even know if a commercial DVD is available of it! What I did find was that what I saw from the Live Feed was not always reflected on the Highlights show. From that experience, I now don't 'trust' Endemol and believe they have their own 'agenda' which does not include journalistic 'reflection' of truth. :(
Unless someone has recorded 30 days of 24 hour live feed that you can watch, I would say it would be difficult to summarise what went on there better than the brief youtube montages, so stick with them?
Perhaps you could try reading HelenH's blog (see her link from the Sticky Live Blogging thread in this section. She wrote a wonderful daily blog, and it gives you some flavour of what went on?

What kind of reality show is it in England (the Italian version is very criticized for the low level...)?
Yup, in the UK it is criticized for the low level too! :P
I believe, many people in the UK are not impressed with Endemol or many of the people who go on Big Brother or the Celebrity version of it. The best way to describe how I see it is to watch the Ricky Gervais skits I posted yesterday. The tabloid newspapers however are still profiteering from it all, so somebody has to be buying those rags! :?
I believe the majority of regular viewers were impressed with Dirk, Jermaine and Shilpa's general behaviour, especially in comparison to the English celebrities! Top UK 'celeb' was Ian (who is Welsh, not English! :P ).

What kind of way of being had Dirk? How was his way of behaving during the show: shy or extroverted, critical or amusing, quiet or sociable........?

Dirk was a real talker! Which is surprising seeing as we imagine him living some kind of Grizzly Adams wilderness lifestyle ( :P or is that just me!). Unfortunately there were few 'listeners' in there with him, and although Leo was a talker too, he (Leo) did seem to lack some social skills! :P Leo and Ken Russell walked out, in part because the 'ladies' of the house did what women often do in groups - bully and bitch! :x  Dirk and Jermaine seemed able to 'zone out' of all that and seemed to accept girls are girls (well most of the time).
Apparently Dirk & Jermaine did some musical jamming (acapello, no instruments?) but that was not shown (presumably because the producers didn't want to pay any royalty fees! :x ,) and Dirk often said he would have loved to have had a piano in the house. Perhaps one day he and Jermaine will get to jam with some instruments (or have already done so?)!

Whether Dirk has kept in contact with any of the housemates? I don't know - most probable would be Ken, Leo or Jermaine, but you'd have to ask Dirk.

Thank you so much!!
OK, I tried my best to answer. May be my answers are v different to others on here, and may be on a different day I would answer differently too! :? These are not 'definitive' answers, just some thoughts I've rambled through!

Why I love Big Brother is that 2 people can watch the same tv and have totally different reactions to what is going on, based on our own 'mental paradigms' ie past experience, personalities, etc. So it is v difficult to tell you about how Dirk was on Big Brother, because I think everyone will see him and the other housemates differently!

deebeelicious did a good summary - hard to describe everything that went on over the 30 days - and those of us in the US got only glimpses. I think I have all the youtube and also those Crazy Tommy T made - and I still haven't gotten them organized, or even all watched   Funny, but I don't have any real desire to sit down and watch; I was uncomfortable the whole time he was in there, and though I'd like to make some screen caps from the files, I really don't care to "experience" that again. He was really treated disrespectfully, not only from the view of who he is, but just as a person. But then, I don't think some of the people in that house would have treated the queen with respect if they weren't being watched carefully

 deebeelicious.. Thank you so much for your time and your kind detailed answers. You told me much more I could think and I'm very thankful to you!!
You gave me the opinion of a Uk fan who was in front of the tv watching the show , so your impression is very important to give me the feeling of what was going on. Of course a summary of a show like that is quite impossible to write, but your words have been extremely explicative!! :D Thank you!
I didn't imagine that he was a real talker.. I could suppose he was a bit introverted..
And that musical jamming.. very interesting!
You're right, these kind of reality shows can give different reactions and different opinions..
I just wanted to discover more!
Thank you so much for your answer!!!

 ostarella, I must tell you the truth.. I'm not sure that a show like CBB could be a good environment for a man like Dirk. I think I would have felt quite uncomfortable too, while watching it. As you confirmed me, also in Uk, as in Italy, many people who take part to these shows are not real "gentlemen/women"... and this is because a great man like Dirk doesn't belong so much to such a circle, in my opinion of course. Anyway, being what you are even if you're closed in a house with .. ehm.. "different" people is a demonstration of strong character and balance, isn't it?

Dirk handled himself admirably, I thought. Even when some of his actions were criticized, I thought he dealt with things much better than I would have (that bottle certainly would have ended up someplace besides the bin, I can assure you 8) ).

There's down-to-earth people, and plain-speaking people - and then there's just plain crass. It takes the patience of an angel to deal with the crass. I've never been good at that.

I'm sure he behaved in an excellent way, ostarella.
He's a man of great worth, and I admire his considerate style and his dignity. They aren't so easy to find in these years..
Reality shows can be a real mirror of society.. and there many aspects become clear..
