I was just wondering if Dirk had a religion and what is it. Just another thing I came up with.

He was just named the new Pope.
Made all the papers ;)

I'm kidding.

Haha. Okay, but does he? I'm just really curious.

Tracy

I really don't know.
I guess only Dirk can answer this question :)

Oooh really? So can you ask him? Well if he wants to answer it and you have time to ask, can you? Thanks.

I'm a little curious now too. Maybe he doesn't have a "religion" per se but a belief system.

I guess we'll never know. No body gets in contact with Dirk around here.

It seems like kind of a personal question, to me anyway. I would think you'd get a pretty good idea of his "belief system" if you read his books. :)

I agree with ostarella that the question of one's religious or spiritual beliefs is a personal matter, and his books do touch on some of his spiritual views.

Oh, okay. No problem. I would read his books but I run a pretty busy schedule. Can anyone tell me what some of the things he said or what religion they think he is?

I hate it when this type of thing gets to me. I really want to know something but can't find the answer and it drives me nuts forever. It's like an itch in the back of my head.

This is a very difficult question for one to answer, other than Dirk himself. IF you get a chance to read the books, I suggest you do because it will give you a better understanding because they are in his own words.
I have the sense that Dirk isn't "religious", but spiritual. There are alot of different things that are incorporated into one's own spirituality ( discovery etc. ) and those awakenings came in the books due to his cancer experience.
Citing bits of quotations from the book doesn't give one a real feel for what he's feeling. The whole book ( experience ) needs to be read for that :)
That's the best answer I can give you :D

I usually visit the forum quite frequently but I don't always get a chance to read things "in depth" all the time. So, since I had a *little* time on my hands tonight, I figured I'd spend it here (don't you guys just feel so honored now? :-) ) anyway....

Fuschia:

I just happened to notice that you put your location as Bigfork, Montana. It can't be that large of a town. Couldn't you respectfully strike up a conversation with him sometime? I mean if Bigfork is as small of a town as I imagine it to be, I would think everyone would run into everyone else - eventually. There can't possibly be *that* many places to go in town.:-) And, trust me, I'm not poking fun at small towns ( a small town in the country/mountains actually sounds heavenly the majority of the time), I'm just saying that I wouldn't think it would be all *that* hard to run into the guy. Then again, I could be wrong.:-)

"Erm...what are you talking about?"

What do you mean....what am I talking about? I'm not sure which part confused you.
I just ment that since your location states that you're from Bigfork, Montana and that's where Dirk lives then I thought maybe you'd have a better chance of running into him than the rest of us would.

Then again, since you were confused by my question anyway....maybe he doesn't get out very often.:-)

He WHAT?! Lives in the same town as me? Are you sure? This is exciting news! OH MY GOSH! Are you sure???

If this is true, I really had no idea. Wow. Maybe I'll start looking around now when I get off work. :o

Hi Fuschia,

I was just wondering how long you've been a fan of Dirks?...and how long have you lived in Bigfork, Montana?...just a bit curious. Maybe Julie W (Hi Julie) is right...Dirk must not go out very often!!! I live in a small town, too...but even so...I eventually "run-into"/see most of the people that live around here at one time or another!

Well anyway...if you do get to "run-into" him (LUCKY you!!!..)...please let us know! Oh, and ya might want to carry a camera with you at all times now!!!...I know I would! And if you get any pics of him, PLEASE see if Tracy will post them for ALL of us (misfortunate ones) to enjoy!!!...

Warmest Wishes,
Sincerely,
Christy

I don't think Dirk would appreciate having his picture taken while going about his daily life at "home", so no pictures please. I would also hope that folks would respect his privacy by not going out trying to "find" him. Dirk does plenty of public events and does make himself accessible in that regard. But his home is his home. So please respect that.

Tracy:

Yes, yes....I definately agree.:-)

Sorry guys. Didn't mean to start "trouble" there.:-) With all due respect, that wasn't a request from me for anyone to become overly zealous (or zealous in any way - for that matter) with Dirk.:-) It was just a little surprising for me to hear that you (Fuschia - hi, btw) didn't realize you and Dirk shared the same hometown.

Quite frankly, and no offense, but if I lived in a small town and had the level of fame that Dirk has and has had in the past I don't think I would do alot in my town. I'd probably spread myself out to the surrounding areas to throw the fans off some. lol

Julie

PS....Hi back to ya Christy.:-)

I hope I didn't come off sounding snippy, but Dirk's had many years of being sought after, both at home and in public. I think he's at the time of his life where, being a single Dad raising his children, his privacy is very important to him, so in his private life, he'd much prefer just to be himself and "anonymous". :)

Hi All,

I'm truly sorry!...I really didn't mean to upset anyone by my last post!...It was a joke (I know...a bad one/won't happen again). My sincere apologies to all.

Warmest Wishes,
Sincerely,
Christy

Fuschia, in a few posts earlier, you said that " nobody round here gets in touch with Dirk" ? Later, you said that you didn't know, that he lives in Bigfork. Please tell us that you're not, Dirk Benedict, teasing us !

Hi everyone! :D
I've read a lot of the posts.
I sincerely believe that Fuschia is not Dirk playing a joke on us.
I live in a small city and I myself am very private.
Just, because you live in the same town, doesn't mean you would necessarily run into everyone.
I've been reading Confessions and have started to get an idea of what Dirk's beliefs are.
I agree that the question of a person's religion or beliefs are is private.
I also agree with Tracy that Dirk needs his private time and wants to be "anonymous" when he's at home.
We need to respect his privacy.

take care,
Anne :)

This is probably going to sound like the ultimate "dumb" - but when I was heading home from my Vancouver trip and drove through both Bigfork and White Sulphur Springs - I didn't take *any* pictures of either. I started to, and then got this odd feeling that even doing that was...invasive. Like I said, dumb, but what can I say?

It surprises me to know that a lot of people who live in this town aren't too fond of Dirk. Many things have been said to me, such as:

And your point in posting this, particularly after we've been talking about respecting his privacy?

Tracy

Fuscia,

Since I live in a small town, I am very aware of the small town gossip mill.

I am going to let your post stand. The reason? I would like to see you answer those who will come to this thread and ask for your reasons *why* you decided to post what you did. It certainly isn't a public service announcement.
Maybe you will think twice next time about posting heresay and conjecture.

I don't see Dirk here spilling the beans about his home town neighbours.

Do you?

I too know him well, and he has FAR too much CLASS for that.

Shame shame.

Tracy

One further comment on this - it's not just the idea that it's Dirk. To post gossip such as this about *anyone* on the net is deplorable conduct. And anyone who heard Dirk talk about the drinking going on in CBB would know better than to believe such rubbish.

Oh. Gosh. I'm sorry. I guess I didn't realize what I was doing. Caught up in the moment, I guess. I'm sorry I spilled my thoughts onto this page. Obviously what is considered disturbing news to some people isn't always disturbing to the next Dirk Benedict fan.

You can delete it if you'd like. I didn't mean to sound so rude. I am sorry.

[quote="fuschia"]Hi all,

It has been a very long time since I was last on this website. I had completely forgotten about until I was emailed from the website saying that someone had replied to my very old post. =]
hi,
i am not one to retort so anxiously ,but, i am now annoyed, please forgive me, but why would you reply after so long, in such a humiliating, distasteful manner? Shame on you!!!

Gossip is a terrible thing, and whether it be true or not, why would you post these remarks to all his fans? Its his business!!! It is not for you to air it out into the public. This would hurt DB more than anything and to read it from his own website is even worse.

I truly wish you would not post anything more about this. If you are a true fan, please, just let it be.

Thank you and once again, if i am out of line, please forgive me.
Tracy i apologize if i am out line, this really bothered me and i had to say my peace.

Fuschia has apologized and I am going to delete her original post and close this thread before anymore tempers are flared.

I am disappointed that her post was made in the first place and I hope it serves as an indication that this website is dedicated to Dirk's work as an actor and author. Private lives, unsubstatianted rumors or gossiping of this site's subject or anyone else here is only negative and serves NO purpose whatsoever.
It is not what this site was intended for.
