Yeehah ! Have just ordered Blue Tornado, from Amazon. Is it good ? Ie..Is Dirk in the film much ? There were some copies of Sss as well, but only from Canada and America and I'm assuming that thet'd be on PAL and not NTL. Or is it NTC. The clip of Dirk on Youtube in Sss is fantastic....

I enjoyed Blue Tornado. A little bit of strange story line, (I'm not really into SciFi) but Dirk is in almost all of the scenes. You'll enjoy it, good choice!

What's Blue Tornado like?
Well, it's sort of like a regular tornado except it's a little depressed. Ok, bad joke (if you can call it that) but I just couldn't help myself.
Seriously, yeah - it is scifi (you probably already knew that though). I haven't watched it in a long time. I recorded it some years back off TNT, I believe. I thought it was pretty descent but I do remember thinking that the story line could have been drawn out more. The ending especially came off - to *me* anyway - as if the writers weren't sure how to end it so they just abrutply came up with a solution to suffice. Don't get me wrong - I *did* enjoy the movie as a whole. Once you watch it, you may not agree with my in put but it's MO.:-)
BTW....If I'm thinking of the correct movie, I do believe Dirk had a hand in writting apart of the love scene in it. It's not that big of a love scene but I believe he had at least a hand in it if not completely responsible for that particular scene period.
Enjoy!:-)

Thans, for the info, everyone. Can't wait, until it arrives ! Not too worried about what the plot is providing that Dirk is in the film, a lot. Blue Tornado.... funny ! At least it's not a film that's blue...just the tornado.

I have to say I thought it was a pretty weak film. Mind you to be honest I didn't watch it for any other reason than to see Dirk. And he looks hot in his uniform :D :D

I just rented it from Blockbuster online.
Its OK, but not great - I wouldn't spend too much money on it. The credits show a lot of Italian names, so I guess it must have been made over there? The 'love' scenes aren't 'blue', so don't expect too much from them. I agree that the dialogue for those scenes seemed better than the rest of the film, and in the imdb.com listing it says that Dirk wrote (re-wrote?) those scenes.
Unfortunately his love interest is Patsy Kensit, who (I can't explain why) I don't like - sorry Patsy fans.
Anyhow, cute to see Dirk in his NATO uniform holding his joystick between his legs! :D

Thanks for the link. I paid four pounds for the copy - so , not a lot ! Wasn't hoping it would be blue..just wondering why it's a blue, tornado ! :) Dirk looks great, in the uniform..The other film I'd like to get is Ssss. Might e mail some of the TV companies to beg for Dirk films to be shown ! Tried, for Earthstorm but nothing, yet.

I bought Blue Tornado on ebay last year (only a couple of dollars) and thought it was quite good.
My only complaint was that it felt like it ended too quickly - leaving it quite unresolved.

The only really good thing about this film is Dirk. It could have been pretty decent if they'd expanded upon the story and spent more money on it. Being one himself, Dirk is a natural to play a pilot. Other than him, forget it.
I just wish that, finally, producers would realise what a fantastic character Dirk is and offer him a wonderful part in a wonderful film. The realisation clearly never dawned that, given a chance, Dirk has a habit of elevating his characters into iconic figures and running away with the whole show. Obviously he's no longer the beautiful young buck he once was, which is a tad problematic, (although he's the sexiest pensioner I've ever clapped eyes on), but he has such a large and attractive personality. He'd be the perfect man, now, to play Hannibal Smith in the new film. The ONLY man, in fact! (Not that his participation would automatically render this new film, "wonderful". I've a feeling it'll be anything but, given that the original cast are irreplaceable, but he's the only one with a true understanding of the A-Team and the only man standing who can effectively resurrect Hannibal.)

At first I thought, no, not Benedict as Smith - but then I remembered how handsome George Peppard was in Breakfast at Tiffany's. So then I thought, well maybe it's natural progression so could work for our resident Most Handsome Senior Citizen, to play Smith. So, yes, verity - good call!
I still like the idea of the remaining 3 going after Smith's killer, as a better plot line - sort of a Grumpy Old Men with guns (and cabbage firing machine etc) - perhaps even a chance for one (or all of them) to vent their views on how everythings changed for the worse now, re: feminism and pc-ness, etc? LOL

Getting my cop of Blue Tornado from Blockbuster, tomorrow!

Sorry to be pedantic, but DB has only turned 62 this year, 3 years younger than the state retirement age.
On other points raised here, I think the "Tornado" refers to the name of the fighter planes flown by the two male leads.
Someone also said they didn't like Patsy Halfwit as DB's love interest - yes, I do find her annoying as well.
I also agree the ending was a little rushed - perhaps the script writers spent too much time elaborating on the military cover up side of the plot tobring the film to a satisfactory conclusion ?

Dirk's very good in the film. Patsy Kensit I think is a bit ...not very good ! Sort of..the light's on..but nobody's home. I didn't think the ending was that, sudden. The grandad is a thread, with all the mountain business..and also lurve, in general. I found Dirk very convincing as a pilot..even though we know, he can fly planes. Glad you'll be getting a copy soon, Anne. :D :D :D

Retirement age used to be 60, wasn't it? If in the UK, Dirk could have a free buss pass - lol!
I too agree about the ending. I loved the film. I thought the premise was excellent and Dirk was brill but the ending was 'Hey! Why are the credits rolling? There's suppose to be another scene. Isn't there?' I think they could've had that ending if they had elaborated more on the possibilites to what the ETs were doing here; leaving it open for the viewer to make up their own mind.
And I could tell that Dirk had written the 'love scene'. His lines were his usual intelligent, witty self :)

I believe it was retirement at 60 for women, and as you've all noticed Dirk isn't one !
Plot pacing did seem to be a bit of a problem - too slow around the time of the military enquiry and then galloping on in the last 10 minutes. And they made Dirk climb the mountain in less than adequate clothes.

Climbing a mountain in less than adequate clothes can be very dangerous, but in Dirk's case, I think that an exception, is in order...

Oh Anne.. I've just looked online about Blue Tornado... I see it also stars David Warner. I expect Dirk and he would have gotten on great. DW used to be one of my favourites when I was MUCH younger. I studied drama in London, and at that time DW was doing quite a bit of Shakespeare on stage, so I saw quite a lot of him. (even managed backstage a couple of times) With DB's interested in Shakespeare and the theatre generally, I expect they enjoyed each other's company.
I hope you enjoy it, I see it is out of stock at Amazon, not sure where others in UK got it?
Cheers

Over wkend..I've been watching 1st DB's film since CBB5, 'Blue Tornado'....quite interesting to find out that main location's shot in Italy...inc. the extras & all crew behind the scene..(fr reading @ the ending title)......astonishingly to see DB'd been up the beautiful Italian Alpes....  ...which's just opposite the French Alpes...where I'd been climbing up in 2003.....only 12 yrs behind....never mind!!...still can see his cigar (kinda Red Indians code) opposite side fr French top of the mountain to say, 'CIAO'...  ...just kidding  ...if it's so...would be v nice :D :D .
Quite suitable role for him...for standing up to his belief....not keen on his 90's hair cut though....but looked so cool in uniform & those off-duty tight jeans   .

Saw this quote from Le Boss, Arsene, concerning retirement/ageing:
"This is a profession where you have to possess physical strength and animal force to show your will to win. But all that can go with a fall in testosterone and with, arthritis and old age. In our fifties we all realise we have less time left than we have already lived.
I think that the club can have a future for 10 years, not me. I have to accept the idea that within 10 years I will be 67. When that time arrives we ask ourselves how can we use the time we have left.
Do we carry on as always without asking where it will take us, or take a new outlook on life knowing that time is moving on?
There are people who can coach for 40 years. And then there are coaches like Bobby Robson or Trapattoni who will die with the same desire to be on the bench.
The true driving force for my life is the idea that tomorrow I will be better than today. As soon as I lose this, I will be dead in my profession and my aspirations."
This seems to be a view Dirk would tend to sympathise with, I'd suggest.
Now can you imagine such cerebral, thoughful words coming from the preposterous, preening Portugese prat @ Chelski ?
I think not. :)

Hi dbukfan,
I am calm, really I am, and I know you did acknowledge your respect for Le Boss. I think Jose's behaviour is symptomatic of the vulgarity of the noveau riche and lack of class that Chelski have exhibited in the last few years. It's not all down to Maureen Yo, he's merely a reflection of it.
Do you think he'll be there next season ? Is there enough room in west London for all the ego's at Stamford Bridge ? Or will the siberian bring in Hiddink ?
