Hi everyone.

Not normally being a fan of 'reality' TV, I chanced upon Celebrity Big Brother out of boredom. Wow. I was addicted to it from the word go. I watched it at every possible opportunity. The reason? Well of course, Dirk. Loved him.

I thought Dirk was absolutely the best housemate there. He had such dry humour (we Brits love dry). Also, he was very intelligent, and very well informed. Certainly he has a lot more brains than certain female participants in the house.

I was really intrigued over his charisma. You know, I quite liked him in Battlestar and A Team, thought he was very handsome, but nothing special.

Wow, I watched CBB and was blown away by him. He is absolutely gorgeous. Normally I don't agree when people say that a man has got better looking and sexier with age. But!!!! with Dirk that really is true. I think the reason is that not only is he still a very very handsome man, but also his human and vulnerable side surfaced, and I felt so many times that I wanted to hug him. I think he has had a tough life, but it has all added to his personality. And he has a gorgeous twinkle in his eye.

Please, please come over to England Dirk, and do some theatre, or TV (but not reality TV). We will all have Dirk withdrawal symptoms.

Love you lots Dirk.

Ok just to rein in some of this feminine gushing I'd like to say that was fascinated by DB for the first time when as a 12 year old boy when BSG came out, I heard that the male lead was vegetarian like me, somethig that mafe me feel less isolated at school; BSG also gave me an escapism i needed from feeling an outsider.

Little did I know that over a quarter of a century later I'd meet him and discover there was more to him than met the eye.

You met him is that it??? and what happened?.

It was at the first(and only, so far) Sci-fi convention I ever attended and initially-while he signed stuff for me- we talked about bringing up 2 boys(I have 2 bys also), chinese or japanese woks (I didn't know there was a difference) and I asked about his book, Confessions of a Kamikaze cowboy.

It wasn't till I read his book that I saw the whole picture with regard to his take on life that I saw so many similarities with his experiences, isolation from his father, an old persons illness striking at an early age, surviving it (so far). Icould go on, but I'd bore you ! :)

Hello everyone!
I've had a long time "crush" on Dirk since I was eighteen.
I was a teenager when Battlestar Galactica came out, I had the pleasure of seeing it in Canada in the movie theatres, before it aired on TV.
Sharma, I'm going to try to post your picture for you very soon.
Been very busy with computer work. Sorry about the delay.
Sharma, do tell us what happened when you met Dirk.
I've tried writing to him, myself.
I sincerely hope that he reads the letter, I posted on this website.
I confess I'm a little bit nervous, actually very nervous, what do I do if he responds?(I am very shy) (i didn't see an emoticon for shy)....
But, I would still very much like to meet him. I greatly admire and respect him. What an honour that would be! :D

take care everyone!,
Anne :)

No it wouldn't bore me - tell me more!!!!!!!

I saw him first when the convention opened when hardly anyone had arrived it was at a small seaside town in the north of England(I live in the south) and I'd just arrived on the friday afternoon.

I came into the first signing room and he was sitting at a table with Herb Jefferson Jnr at the next one also signing and the first thing I noticed was how strange his accent sounded to my english ears, also deeper than I remembered on BSG - the reason for this being was back in the 70's when US video tape is transmitted in the UK it speeds up slightly and everyone sounds like theyv'e had a dose of helium.

I should have chatted then, as other attendees were but as I was a convention virgin I didn't quite know what the procedure was, and I was a tad starstruck anyway.

He had an interview that evening on the main stage and during the question and answer section he promisd he'd give a free copy of his Kamikaze Confessions book to the the best question and the rudest question ! As it happened traditional british reserve meant no one could be rude to DB.

On the next day when I did get my book signed, and some pictures,we talked about he perils of having 2 sons fairly close to each other in age as I got him to sign a BSG picture of him with their names, I had to spell them as they are of asian origin, and h thought their names sounded "really cute", kind of like what he'd say about Shilpa's name/accent (during CBB5). It read "To Saurav & Rishi....do as your dad tells you, or else...."

He also had a flyer for his caribean cruises with him, he signed that "Bring the brats(crossed out) kids". He shortened my first name from Sanjay to Sanj (I asked him for no quips about french for monkey! He also posed for a couple of pictures and when I muttered I'd better take my wallet out of my pocket as I can't have any lumps in my trousers we both looked at each other and giggled about that.

(I'll send scanned versions of this stuff to Barbara later who has kindly offered to post these up.)

He was around that venue for a few more days judging an A-Team/McGiver challenge also, coming out of that event I bumped into him and he remembered my name and said hi.

I also heard that he was at the bar on of those nights singing at the piano, but I missed that - I was at the disco/bar then acquiring a hangovr for the following morning and a bit annoyed at not being there for DB's unofficial cabaret.

Anyhoo, I think that's as much as I can remember for now, and as it's midnight here I'll catch all you people later. :)

I met Dirk in 2003, when he was at the memorabilia convention. If he does another one this year I might go again.

Hi Sharma!
Yes, I got the pics.
I'll be posting them soon.
We have way too much snow here in Owen Sound, Ontario Canada.
So, I have to shovel my roof.
I will be posting them later.
For clarification my given name is Barbara Anne.
But everyone calls me Anne, and my younger brother Michael and family call me Annie.
I hope I don't fall off the roof. I've done it a couple of times. It's not that high up. About a half foot. Don't worry. I didn't injure myself, just landed on soft snow.
I think I need to have serious talk with Mother Nature! :(
I can't wait for spring! :D
What's the weather like your way?.
It's 1.24 p.m. here my time, in good ole' Canada. :D

take care,
Anne :)

In southern england we've had a few inches of snow but that was enough to cripple our trains and buses ! How would we cope with snow at the level you get in Canada ?

To clarify my first name is Sanjay, but when I registered on this site I mucked up a bit on filling in the fields and now am logged in as my surname only ! It's 6.30pm in the UK and we're expecting a hard sharp frost tonight...oh yippee !

Hi Sanjay!
You can load ImageShack on your computer. It's very easy to do.
I can post images.
But, there are they are not appearing on the site as they should be.
You know an actual photo image, not just the url(address) of the image.
Almost, got the process downpat.

take care,
Anne :)

p.s. Re-send me your pictures. My cats were playing with my mouse and computer keyboard and by accident deleted some of my stored pics. at ImageShack.
