Well im new to this site and being a Galactic sci-fi fan and a BB watcher I thought I would post this message.
I live in the UK and am NOT a racist but Dirk said something on BB which made me think and has in turn made Dirk go up in my books.
He seems intelligent and forthright.
He said that here in the UK the avg citizen female has 1.3 children whereas all others in the UK have avg of 3.4 children and we the citizens are now the minority.
It made me stand and think, Dirk has hit the nail on the head and what he said was factual.
so before anyone else thats heard him say this that he is a racist then do not try and read between the lines.
Too many lately are using the racist card as for Jade etc with Shilpa she was a bully and her retardic mutterings made her look pathetic beyond belief but she is not a racist.
Dirk mate you are on a winner and i will be voting for you, have a fantastic time and lets see you in more movies.
oh btw the wife fancies the arse off you so dont come here cos ill have to fight you hehe
good luck bud
Frankly, that doesn't sound like something Dirk would have said.
I don't think he'd have data concerning the birth rate for British subjects vs. non-British subjects living in the UK. He doesn't live there himself, and would have no cause to search out that information.
I want you to produce some verification that he said that, please.
Now.

Actually John, he did say it.
I saw the tape.
He mentioned he was reading the statistics before he went over.

Why am I not surprised that Dirk would've done research? :)

Ah. Then my apologies. This sounded very much like a continuation of the racial issues that had come up earlier, and I wasn't about to let that garbage spill over into here.
That must have been an interesting conversation, then.

I suspect he'd have found it interesting that immigration has so effected the UK, and that the citizen population there has a similar birthrate to the caucasian population here. That both countries have either minorities or immigrants reproducing faster that the original majority population/citizens is interesting.

It's true that overall the immigrant population has a higher birth rate but it masks the fact that the "immigrant" population covers a wide range of different communities, some which do have a higher birthrate (pakistanis, bangladeshis, north africans) and others with the same --or lower birthrates (indians, chinese) than the caucasian population. No homogeneity there.
It was merely a statement of fact by Dirk - nothing more, proof he does his preparation. :D

the point i was rasing wasnt so much he mentioned it but what he said was factual, i was a fan and still am of starbuck and galactica this just showed me another side to Dirk.
I voted for him and wanted him to win alas he came 3rd but still was great to see the real Dirk, he seemed very intelectual and forthright in his beliefs and opinions.
Wish they would get him a part in the new galactica, apollo did..

Hi!
I don't think that he cares/likes the new Battlestar Galactica series.
I remember him mentioning that somewhere.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, about that information.
take care,
Anne :)

Tracy, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I seem to recall an interview where he said he wouldn't automatically say no to a part in the faux BSG, but he didn't think there was much chance of that happening (this was after the Castration article came out). But as far as I know, he hasn't changed his mind about the premise of the new one...

Yeah, I don't think he hates the new Galactica, but many people took it that way. I read a Richard Hatch interview somewhere and he thought it would be cool to Bring Dirk into it, of course he doesn't make the decisions on the show.

I didnt see this what did it say?
nowing the mdeia and the papers probably all hersay, they seem to do more damage than good lately, someone gets charged with something and if the papers agree then they are condemed trial by media.
Maybe if enough people mentioned it then scifi.com would take notice, would be great to see him in a role somewhere in the new BSG
