Does it mean I'm gay if I like the new Starbuck? Then I'm gay!!! I never thought I'd say "Starbuck is HOTTTTT!!!!" Sorry ladies, now it's our turn.
Let's hope they don't turn her into another Ripley!

Ok, my computer has been *completely* screwing up this evening so....let's try this response - yet again! :-)
"Starbuck is *hot*"????!!!! The "new" starbuck?!
No offense, JimCollins, but...eewwwwwww!!!!! I've never seen her in other roles so I don't know if longer hair would make her look better but - she's just too butch to look hot....IMO. Actually, my husband has the same opinion too after he's now seen a picture of her in her "Starbuck" wear. But, to each his own, I guess. :-)

Oh yeah, one more thing.
"Does it mean I'm gay If I like the new Starbuck?"
I'm sure that statement was more of a joke than anything, but, considering you're a guy (at least I'm assuming you are by your name) and the "new" starbuck is a girl then I will have to say that if you are a straight man then liking a girl would make you pretty consistant to your heterosexuality. No matter *how* butch she looks. :-)

You know if they had given her ANY OTHER NAME than "Starbuck", I probably would have been cool with that.
But I can't HELP to think Dirk when she comes on the screen.
And man...it just ain't right

I think Starbuck is her nick name her full name is Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace, in the NZ Tv guide i have never seen them put her name is Starbuck its always Kara or Thrace also about the new BSG Boomer is also a female. I am not a fan of the new show.

Of course "Gay" could also be used in the :Lame" connotiation South Park has given it.
I dont find Stardoe attractive. Particularly because of her attitude. The actress' crass "Im Starbuck. DEAL with it!" attitude really put me off. Im not a big fan of Boomer being a girl either, but at leat the actress is nice and was nothing but the model of respect when she met the original Boomer. And I even respect Olmos for being direct and honest to us classic fans about the new show.
Benedicts Starbuck may not have been what some moms consider good role model material when it came to women. But There was still a refreshing honesty to him. Sure he smoked and gambled and stuff. But he never pretended to be something he wasnt: A guy. But he still knew to do the right thing in the end. Stardoe is a woman acting like something she isnt. A guy. Kara Thrace is a poser
Normally Im not gonna fault someone for just doing their job. But if youre gonna cop a tude about it then to Hell with you. Being in a bad show I can forgive. Having a bad attitude I cannot.
Im hoping Dirk sticks to his guns about staying out of TNS. It crushed me when Hatch changed his tune.

You know, in the fan group I hang in most of the time (The Invisible Man), Edward James Olmos has a nickname: "The Truthsayer". He's the one who said if you loved the original BG and think of that show and its characters when you hear Battlestar Galactica, then you will probably hate the new show.
He was right. No way could i accept anyone but Dirk Benedict as a character called 'Starbuck' on a show called 'Battlestar Galactica'. it AIN'T right.
Good for the guys for having a 'Starbuck' who is "hot". She's NOT Starbuck. Never was, never will be.
I've seen a couple of episodes of the new show, and in general, I like the "look". I love the idea of EJO as Adama. Can't say that love extends to anything else on the show.
Thank the Lord for BG on DVD. My videos of the original airing were wearing out.
