The A-Team movie has been announced! After over 10 years of discussion. Dirk and Dwight will play cops, Mr. T to play a mechanic.

Here's the worst part. Ryan Seacrest is currently is negotiation to play Face! Ugh!

This has been discussed on a couple other lists also - some believe it, some don't until they see it ;-) Any confirmation? Agreed - Seacrest is a baaad choice for Face. But then any but the original would be, right? :)

I hope I'll be wrong, but I'm a little bit afraid that the a-team will get a "Dukes of Hazzard" treatment.

The only way an A-team movie can be a good movie is to make something completely different. Like they did with Mission Impossible. Use the idea of four guys on the run, earning their money as soldiers of fortune. But make a good action movie of it.

But it does not look like it's going that direction.

Directed by Steve Ravic ? Face played by Ryan Seacrest ? Trying to get the old a-team fans to the movie by letting the original actors play a small role?

My heaven ! I really hope imdb is wrong ! We'll get a parody of the original series !

According to the forum i have just been on, a forum member found out via wikipedia, and a release date is 2008!!
Personally I'd rather leave it be.
Whether its true or not I don't know.
Just remember the Avengers film. (sobs boo hoo! a painful film to watch)

Well it appears that the listing has been taken off of IMDB for now. Maybe we'll get our wish and they'll leave it alone.

I hope it bites the dust. The guys are easily capable of being the leads and letting a few other actors do the jumping out of windows stuff. I think that the offer of a paltry brief cameo would be insulting and disappointing to the fans. Yet another idea - a remake minus the actors we love...which sucks, frankly.

Hi everyone! :D
i also hope it bites the dust.
Just leave the idea alone of making an A-Team movie.(without the original actors as the characters!) :x
Why mess with perfection?
Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have any original ideas anymore?
Dirk DOES of course :D Dirk should write/direct the movie with himself portraying "Face", Dwight Schultz as "Howling Mad Murdock" and Mr. T. as" B.A." Baracus. He (Dirk)could/should write a movie about how they try to find Hannibal's killer(for respect to the late George Peppard) who to me is the one and only true "Hannibal" and then try to recruit new members for the A-Team. That's the type of A-Team movie I would like to see and definitely would watch! :D
I'm going to write to Dirk about that. :D
Dirk is the one and only "Faceman" and the one and only "Starbuck" as far I'm concerned, and I am sure everyone here agrees! :D

take care,
Anne :)

I agree with everything you say, he is the only Faceman and Starabucki

I've been on my soapbox (persay) about this alleged A-Team movie before and here I go again---It's like remaking "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", --it just simply should not be done ---unless as you all have said--bring back our guys---C'mon, Ryan Seacrest as "FACE"----I just can't stand the thoughts of that ---no disrespect intended --it just simply isn't a thought--- --If I can't have my Lieutenant Templeton (Faceman) Peck--I'll pass. Okay I have vented, Thank you.

Good idea?

Don't know what good that would do - Dirk's not making the movie :?:

Hi ostarella!
I agree, but he could have some major input.
Wouldn't you agree?

Well, the originals didn't exactly get any input on BSG, did they?

bibbi
03-06-2007, 01:57 PM
That's true, but only for the "fake" BSG TV series that's on the air now.
Larson still has the movie rights for a BSG movie! :D
Praise the Lords of Kobol! :D
Dirk surely can have some say in that. :D

Anne :)

True, but at least it vanishes off the radar pretty quickly and people say how bad it is compared to the original series.

The only way an A-team movie can be a good movie is to make something completely different. Like they did with Mission Impossible. Use the idea of four guys on the run, earning their money as soldiers of fortune. But make a good action movie of it.

However I don't want them to make a franchise out of it that makes people think it's better than the original.

I think one of the original movie scripts based itself on the Mission Impossible success, in which it just focused on one character, Hannibal. And I'm sure I heard Dirk say somewhere that face turned out to be the bad guy in it, along with the script featuring a lot of foul language.

Hi Crazy Tommy T! :D
One of the original scripts had that in it! "Yuchhhhhh...."
Maybe the fans of the original A-Team series should write in to protest!
Anyone have an address?

Anne :)

If anyone has an address to write to, I can't wait to send a letter ! I've never heard of a Ryan Seacrest...not that it would change my opinion if I had. I know..why not remake 'The Elephant Man - the musical ' ? Or perhaps ask Quentin Tarantino, to remake ' The Sound Of Music' ? How about ' Ghandi - on ice' ? I'm convinced, that the people who dream up most of these remakes ideas are sharing a brain cell. They completely miss the point. It is not entirely a format, which makes a show a success. It's the actors. Have you ever sen the original casting for the original Star Trek? Mostly, it was like watching wood, moving about a bit.

What!?!?!?! I hope they are not even considering that script. That's not even The A-Team. That is an entirely different story and characters that are using the series name. Why does Hollywood insist on using great TV shows names to promote their unfaithful trash?

Personally, I think the people thinking up these lame remakes have no brain cell! :x
Surely, Dirk and Dwight and Mr. T must have some major input or pull as they say...

Hi Anne,
I wouldnt think they have, on CBB Dirk was talking to Ian Watkins from the group Steps and he told him the millions the A Team had made when sindicated around the world and he said the producers made all the money. Therefore I am sure they have all the rights to any movie which might be made. That the economics of the situation I am afraid , why do you think so many actors, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise etc, set up their own jproductions companies, to control and make the money, thats why.

Hi moviemogul! :D
Sad... but true... :(
Maybe Dirk and Dwight and Mr. T could form a production company and make a proper(true) A-Team movie that the fans will definitely enjoy!

hi moviemogul! :D
How about a combination of an old and new version.
We'd have the original A-Team characters and actors who portrayed them, searching for Hannibal's killer(I think that I posted this earlier)and for help they recruit some new people.
These would be new characters (not Face, HM Murdock or B.A.)with different names and backgrounds that would help the original A-Team.
I think that idea would/might work.

take care,
Anne :)

That would be the intelligent, more creative, fair, interseting, entertaining and exciting way to go about it. Well, they won't do that, will they!

Just like Star Trek Generations - introduce a new set of TNG characters handing over from the TOS - cool, I like that plot far better!
Hmmm! So are people who are into TOS called TOSsers! LOL

Hi everyone! :D
Hi ostarella! :D
Thanks for posting that link. :D
As far as I'm concerned the A-Team movie(IF the project gets the green light) should have the original actors play the original characters.
Face - Dirk Benedict
Howling Mad Murdock - Dwight Schultz
B.A. Baracus - Mr. T.
You CAN'T recast Hannibal, George Peppard is the "one and only" Hannibal.
and get other actors to play new characters that become a new A-Team.
That's my opinion anyway.
Here's a link I found and I posted a comment, it's number 211 under the name Annie.
http://www.badmouth.net/casting-call-the-a-team-movie/
It also linked back here to Dirk Benedict Central, so there's a promotion for this site.
And this was by accident!
I just got an email from the admin of that site, John Marcotte.
He told me a lot of people would be interested in Dirk Benedict Central and also the fact that we're discussing the A-Team movie!. :D

take care,

Hi barbara758!
I completely agree with you! As far as I'm concerned, replacing the original actors would be a sort of "desecration" of the legend of the A-Team. I couldn't stand it and I would really like to sign a petition against this movie. There's only one A-Team, the original one!!! :D

Thank you, Anne, for posting the link to the site. ( I osted twice by mistake because the first one didn't appear, for a while so I thought it hadn't worked ). Does Dirk read anything on the internet. That's still a mystery, to me. He said on CBB that he'd ordered a book, from Amazon. So he does use, the internet. Then somewhere - can't recall where, he said that he hasn't got it at home. erhaps he has had it installed. Then, I thought about when Tracy ( Hi Tracy :D ) put a wink, by the ' of course' when one of us asked if he looks at this site. I don't know if that means yes, or yes but I'm kidding. Then, on DB Anonymous - he sent a letter..must be a while ago, now...saying that he'd seen, it. ( The site). So..I reckon, that there's a fair chance he has, seen stuff. : Well, I hope so, actually. He has a heck of a lot of support and could call on it if he wanted to eg in terms of appearances, writing campaigns , etc ie work thingies. :D Oh..and book sales ! Plus, being sent good vibes, is also, good ,for people.

I couldn't agree more. :D
yes, I too think that he's seen this site.
He has endorsed it. I'll have to be careful about what I say!
A lot of us here support him and I'm sure that he knows that.
I dying to see if the next book that Dirk write will be about both his experiences as Starbuck from Batllestar Galactica and Face from the A-Team. :D

Anne :)

Hi barbara758! :D
I think it would be a nice idea.. as you know I'm new here and I don't know how this kind of things work.. but I wish it would be possible.

Of course this initiative would need the participation of as many members as possible.. But it seems to me that a lot of people share our opinion!! :P
