...I was reading that fabulous interview with Dirk from Starfest and couldn't help but be struck by this:

Dirk: Yeah, I don’t know, if I am still alive in four years, so good, so far.

Jonja.net: Well, with your macrobiotic diet.

Dirk: Yeah, but I abused myself.

Jonja.net: That was a long time ago though.

Dirk: Yeah, Oh yeah. Well, its time I got back, Dwight (Shultz) is probably waiting for me.

I thought this sounded ominous to me. But then, I'm 51 and I tend to talk the same way, but I can't help but worry about him after this statement. Is he alluding to something going on that we don't know about, or am I reading too much into this? Please tell me I'm reading too much into it! :(

You're reading too much into it.

Thanks!

And I apologize for posting that, but like I said, I do tend to worry about people and I had to ask.

The abuse he is talking about is that of eating red meat , junk food , grease, sugar and so fourth in the years before he became aquatined with macrobiotics in 1971. In reading "Confessions OF A Kamikaze Cowboy" he explains this very well and the tole it took on his health in those early years. Describing the fast foot joints as cancer stations too. He is firm believer in you are what you eat. Dirk is exsactly right in that too! :D
