Where did you find out about Murdock's name i.e what the H M stands for?

Italian dubbers tried to translate the original names, but I don't like the result very much.
Murdock and Hannibal keep their original names,
B.A. is called P.E. which stays for Pessimo Elemento (it means "very bad element")
Face is called Faccia da Sberle (or, shortly, Sberla) which means more or less "cheeky face": this expression (not perfectly translatable, in fact "sberla" literally means "slap") can have an affectionate and playful meaning in Italian.
However I don't like these translations.. What do you think about it? Do you think they respect the original intentions?

I don't know as I'd take these as the "gospel". Murdock's name was never "officially" released, nor was "Albert" as far as I know. Hannibal was Smith's nickname, not his actual middle name. Not meaning to be nit-picky, but most fanfic writers have searched high and low for confirmation of these :wink:

Actually it's John "Hannibal" Smith for Hannibal.
I'm not sure if Dirk's was actually Templeton Arthur Peck, I thought it was just Templeton Peck. :?
Anyone know of any sources that clarify this info. :?

Just added a note to the canon site re: Eliot. That came up in "Lease with Option to Die". Murdock is speaking in the voice of the announcer for the old television series, "The Untouchables", which was about the career of Eliot Ness. So when he refers to BA as "Eliot", that's what it's in reference to. :D

I don't know if I'd agree with the "element" - usually if we call someone a bad element, it means he or she causes problems with the good, leads them astray, turns them bad, etc. BA may have had some "personality problems" but he did what he was supposed to. :wink:

This one I could agree with - I can see Face making some comment and the girl giggling and giving him a playful slap - though maybe not on the face. That's a little less friendly. But he's definitely cheeky! :lol:

I agree with P.E... BA is something like Bad Attitude maybe..

and Sberla.. it's not bad.. but I would have prefered if they had used the original (nick)names... perfection shouldn't be damaged!! :lol: :wink:
But in that period everything had to be traslated in Italy.. :?
