Are the articles (like the one on the frontpage "Lost in castration") made by Dirk for this website?

Dirk wrote "Lost In Castration" for Dreamwatch magazine in May of 2004.
He wanted it posted on his website as well.

his writings are always very inspiring. it's a pitty "And Then We Went Fishing" is no longer available at amazon (only used copies). Is there a new reprint planned for the future?

I loved "Lost in Castration" and he was exactly right. The only way Starbuck would be a male in any new Battlestar Galactica, he would have to be gay (no offence to anyone, just a comment on the current culture). That article gets a rousing standing ovation from this woman! Way to go, Dirk, for telling it like it IS!! I've loved him since Battlestar Galactica, but after reading this, my respect for the guy has grown by leaps and bounds.

I would hope we'd still be able to get Dirk's books, whether original printing or reprints. He has some very interesting things to say, and with The A Team out on DVD and on TV (as well as the REAL Battlestar Galactica) I'd think there would be a whole new generation who would benefit from his writing - as well as those of us old-timers who failed to get his books when they first came out.

When I spoke with him last May, he said he wasn't going to have any additional reprints of Fishing. He said he had a few left to sell, and there are copies available online (eBay, Yahoo auctions, Amazon, etc). I bought Fishing and started reading it - could *not* put it down until I'd finished it. It is...inspiring, funny, heart-breaking, honest...

I completely agree ostarella! "...Fishing" is a wonderful book. I myself have a very hard time reading books. I can't focus on them alot of times and have to take breaks before I resume reading. With "...Fishing", I read it in 48 hours! The only reason I stopped was because I had to do work around the house.....oh, yeah...and that mother thing.:-P hahaha.:-)

didn't find any copies avvailable on ebay. and i don't know if you can trust the sellers on amazon who sell used copies.

i suppose i'll just have to wait until somebody sells a copy at ebay, and wants to ship it to europe. :(

You could also order a copy directly from Dirk (or at least see if he still has copies available)...

Wow that would be great of course. Can I simply order a copy from him?

The business address I have is: Tenderfoot Enterprises, PO Box 634, Bigfork, MT 59911 (maybe Tracy can correct me if that's changed). Send an inquiry - can't hurt :-)

Thing is..I'm not sure if he has any more copies of Fishing on him. I'll have to check. :)

Just went to Amazon.com and ordered both books. I should have them in about a week.

High price for "And Then We Went Fishing" but that's ok.

Hopefully Dirk will be in Orlando before too long, maybe I can get the pleasure of meeting him and having them sign my books. Can't wait to read them!

i've send him a small letter anyhow. if he's out of copies, the least thing i could do is thank him for writing "Confessions...". :)

Greetings from Germany and Hi @ all

I bought it from eReader.com It's a download
http://www.ereader.com/product/detail/39?book=And_Then_We_Went_Fishing:_A_Story_of_Fathe rhood,_Fate_and_Forgiveness

Very easy. You must have only a creditcard and whooop, it's yours.

Okay, I can't go to bed with my PC, but I'm sitting here anyway, so I can also reading a book at the screen

And Yessss... It's a wonderfull book.

Dirk was not aware that his book is being sold on an E-book website.
I'm not sure if this is illegal ( I don't know where this site is based and what the laws are ), but it certainly is unethical if the author has not given his consent for his work to be sold without his knowledge or compensation.
Those wanting to download this, may want to keep this in mind.

I don't think it's illegal. The copyright - things are so expensive, that no one wants to risk a lawsuit with the publisher. Not for less then $10/book.

According to http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/okbooks.html, (quoting here)

"In order for a book to go online, either
the copyright holder (usually the author) has to give permission, or
the book needs to be in the public domain (i.e. copyright on the material has expired), or
there must be a special legal exemption allowing whoever puts the book online to do so without permission of the copyright holder. (This last case is quite rare; in the US, it may apply to libraries and archives with respect to some out-of-print copyrighted books published between 1923 and 1930.)
Most free online books are from public-domain texts, but there are also many books online with the permission of the copyright holder. "

So, it sounds like, unless this download site is a recognized/legitimate library (which it doesn't sound like), and the copyright hasn't expired, then they may have a problem...

I found another store, that sell the eBook. May they have a license? Who knows. :?: In Germany I don't have the ownership of illegal stuff, also if I am a bona fide purchaser. Mmh, tricky.

I got mine off amazon.com ($55, not counting shipping). It was EXPENSIVE but worth every penny!!

Just finished it the other night. I sure hope Dirk keeps writing those books - I'm one that will buy them all. I just love him too much for words, his writing is so personal and honest. Sharing himself with total strangers. I know I appreciate being let in on his life. God bless him!

If Dirk isn't going to re-release And Then They Went Fishing...couldn't it be downloaded from here...for a fee of course! :D

I noticed somewhere amongst this forum's threads about a shop...what happened to that idea?

Download able for a fee hmm! If their charging i'm sure he gets something from that. By law any version sold he gets a part of. He probably knows something of it. It;s amazing what they come across online I don;t metion they've heard or scene. Shrug! :D
