Don't know if this is the right section to post this in, so move the topic to appropriate area. I have to know if my account here was ever hacked or any DoS attacks happened... I checked my outgoing PMs to make sure there wasn't an actual hack of my account here but if anyone got any weird spam or anything like that, let me know. This is very important as one of my other accounts on another Sci-Fi VBulletin site was hacked. I expect I know who the culprit is behind it...

This is as good a place as any for this subject.

By all means - if someone here is aware of anything odd being sent out of Nacky's account, please let us know.

However, I am unaware of any problems with anyone's account and have not been informed of any attacks on this site (our hosting service is really good about that). So except for one instance where a spammer managed to gimmick the registration process, I don't think we've experienced any hacking of any kind in a very long time.

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of it and have some leads. I don't know about any DoS attacks because I'm not the tech guru here, but I'm glad that things seem to be running smoothly. I'll contact you offboard okay? I have some more details to discuss with you and I'd like to ask some questions and have you look into some things. Thanks.

Is there any way I can make my blogs private here? Or do something? I have sent letters to the admin/Dawg and I don't know how to work this new layout. There's some offboard issues.

And I found it. Been looking in the wrong places...

If you go to "All Blogs" in the menu above, in the left column menu, under "Your Blog," is "Blog Control Panel." At the bottom of the list is the permission check to allow others to read the blog. Simply uncheck the box and it should disappear from public view.

Well I tried that, I even tried to delete a few posts because of some troll elsewhere but it keeps saying I'm missing a security token. WTH? Apparently I've been hacked in some way because I can't even make it private because it says I'm not signed in but I am signed in. Weird.

You and I might still be able to see the posts, Nacky (you're the blogger, I'm the Admin), but I wonder if anyone else can.

If someone would mind checking Nacky's blog and letting us know what you see, it would be very helpful.

Hmm? I still don't understand how I can't perform any functions and I kinda don't want anyone outside the site to see any of my blogs because of a problematic thing I don't wanna mention here. But something that had caused me a great deal of grief and rallied others to be arses to me so I'm kinda hoping I can figure out how to work the controls of my stuff. And I had only commented on a few other blogs (one I should have never added my two cents in) but it's the raking over the coals I don't wanna re-live. If you get my drift.

Thanks for your help so far and anything else you can look into. I just can't understand this blog control panel thing because it really doesn't work for me. I can't do anything with it. If I send you some links, Dawg, can you just fix it from your end? I think someone really messed my account up. It's really aggravating.

Nacky, do me a favor and double-check to make sure that the two boxes at the very bottom of the blog control panel are unchecked.

If they are checked, uncheck them and save, then let me know you've done so. If they are unchecked, I'll need to dig further into the software - and perhaps we will have to consider actually deleting the blog posts that are causing you problems.

Yeah, I unchecked and saved changes and every time I do, I get this message:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

I even sent in a message to the link provided in that.

I also wrote you a letter to your regular email and I'm wondering if you've changed providers since then. But anyway, yeah, there's some issues somewhere else and I'm not sure who or what but can guess the who's and what's and yeah I would like to either make some blogs private or just remove them. Lord knows I don't need anymore stress this holiday season than I'm already dealing with atm. Thank goodness for family and friends!

OK - got it. I'll work on it.

In the meantime, send me a note with any specific blog entries you want to delete. If I can't figure out why we're missing a "security token", I'll just remove the troublesome posts.

Yeah thanks. I wish I didn't even have to bring this up, but well, I have some folks who do quite the obsessing over me. I'll be one of those warrior women who has done much with life and as a friend told me recently, I'm sure to make history.

It's only happening with the blogs. Can't make them hidden, remove or edit them in any way. There're other issues too.

Thanks Dawg. Yeah there's another vBulletin board I'm a member of and my account there did get hacked. The admin there sorted it out and banned the perpetrator and I had to change my password naturally. So far it seems that here there's just a technical issue. Let's hope that's all it is. I'd hate to find hackers targeting this forum too. We've already gotten DoS'd at a couple other forums and there's a chance it could be the same hacker or more accurately defined as "cracker" or "script kiddie".

Yeah it's kinda hokey with the tech stuff. One of the reasons why Nacky is wanting to get the blog issue solved is because a few months ago she finally made that video she wanted to that was described here: http://www.dirkbenedictcentral.com/forums/blog.php?b=65
You know all those videos on youtube that combine songs with movie or TV show scenes? Well that's what she did with a few songs already and I think she wanted to include her link in a blog rather than on the main boards. It's not Dirk Benedict related unless she makes a music video for some scenes from like Battlestar or something. ;)

Yes, the blog is having difficulties. No, site security has not been compromised because of them.

Unfortunately, it's going to take a little while to locate the exact trouble spot and get it resolved.
