Hello and how are ya?

How'd you end up here at Tracy's fine new forums?

I am making this thread as we'll have people joining from different aspects of Dirk's life-

Dirk fans (from Tracy's lists and chats) and Battlestar Galactica fans (from BG forums and sites Tracy visits).

My name is Darrell. I ended up here through the BG side of things.

I've been a BG fan for a VERY long time, and am the co-founder of Colonial Fleets. I created that forum for a friend back when I was still running 3D Gladiators, a CGI artist web site.

CF eventually moved to its own domain and stuff, and has changed ownership.

I then went on to become Richard Hatch's webmaster for a while. That too is behind me now.

I met Tracy through BG fandom, and met face to face with the pretty lady at Galacticon, where I met a number of other BG fans *and* Dirk fans.

I told Tracy then that any help she ever needed, hollar.

Well, she decided she'd like a forums that covered all aspects of Dirk, so here it is.

Now it's your turn ;)

Ok I guess it's my turn :)

My name is Tracy and without Darrell's help this place never would have happened. Or rather it would have happened but more at a snail's pace ;)

I have spent the last 4 years being Dirk's "window into his public life" meaning that I keep his fans informed of his goings on via the website and various lists and groups. I've had the opportunity to meet him in person several times and even enjoyed a luxurious vacation aboard his second fan cruise. What a blast that was! Great fun.

Like Darrell I'm a BSG fan from wayyyy back. Enjoyed the A-Team as well but I have a soft spot for BSG. I have an even *bigger* soft spot for Dirk's writing talent and it is basically the reason the site exists.

Dirk has been a great help and inspiration for many who were sick and/or dying of various maladies and his sharing of his experiences from meat to grains has guided many to a path of health and happiness. For his candor I am forever grateful.

That's about it for me. Welcome to one and all.

Next! :D

Hi!
This is a very nice site, I have yet to look around it all. :)

My name is Cynthia and I live in SLC Utah, USA. When I was a very shy kid, my best companion was Battlestar Galactica. I watched repeats, too, whenever I could. I loved that show. It kept me company through some empty times.

Now it's so many years later and I'm all grown up and much better off. However, I still have a soft spot for BG. Starbuck was always my favorite on the original show.

I haven't read Dirk's books, but I would like too. I've read my share of life-changing books and sometimes thinking of reading another one is a bit much.. but I would like to read them, from the reviews they sound wonderful.

I'm enjoying the new BG episodes on Sci Fi channel. They are different... but similar. I kinda look at it as being a different parallel dimension. :) I loved how the female Starbuck wormed her way into that cylon ship in the last episode, as disgusting as it was, and flew the darn thing. The original Starbuck would have done that! And.. I liked that Apollo and Adama didn't want to leave her behind.... the original Apollo and Adama wouldn't leave the original Starbuck behind either!

Oh and I was wondering... I never knew Starbuck's real name in the original series. Apollo's name was Lee Adama, wasn't it? :)

I wanted to add that I have been vegetarian for 13 years this April (because I read Diet for a New America by John Robbins back then.. changed my view of animals). However, I don't know much about macrobiotics... and will be looking for more info. :)

Hello Cynthia.:-)

Actually, in the original series, Starbucks and Apollo's real names *were* Starbuck and Apollo. It was Apollo's *father* who was Commander Adama. I don't remember if Adama's first name was Lee or not. Hope that helped.:-)

Hi

My name is Karina and I live in Perth, Western Australia.

I first came across Tracys DB Central via a link from Dirks own site years ago and have always been known as KamikazeCowgirl on her forums so if I already know some of you - Hi !!

I first discovered Dirk at the drive-in in the 70s as BSG was released as a movie here first. As I grew up without a TV I never got to see the tv series when it was finally shown on Aus TV - in fact I hadnt seen a single episode until I bought the Cylon Head DVD Boxed Set in 2003 and spent the Xmas break watching them all from start to finish.

I did buy a TV in time for the A Team to start in Aus in 1984 and was an addict from day one. I taped each and every episode and still have them all - on Beta !! Have started to gradually move them over to DVD.

I have Cruise in Terror and Dirks eps of Hotel and Love Boat on video as well.

Love Ssssssss, Ruckus, Body Slam. Still havent seen Alaska.

First bought Kamikaze Cowboy in 1988 and have read it many times since then. Have yet to get a copy of ...Fishing.

Wish I had the spare cash to do a Dirk Cruise !!!

Tracy - love the whole look of the new site and forums - very slick !!
